Chief Superintended of Customs (CSC) Mohammed Hudu is another refined enforcement officer of no mean repute, whose name reverberates in the camp of smugglers and duty evaders due to his over the year’s anti-smuggling exploits.
His knack at nipping in the bud unwholesome activities of these criminal elements in the course of his enforcement, especially at Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’, is highly commendable.
Mohammed had variously served as an unseen performing customs anti-smuggling maestro in the enforcement field achieving huge seizure and detention results for past and present notable customs leadership and Heads of unit retired Comptrollers Ogoni, Inuwa, and others like Yusuf and most recently Comptroller MS Shuaibu now Assistant Comptroller General of Customs in Charge of Headquarters, among others, while his enforcement actions at these times are instrumental to several successes recorded during their reign.
It is on record that CSC Mohammed’s vicious attributes towards smuggling have led to several unquantifiable successes recorded both on waterways and land, with the high profile seizure of 9,000 50kg bags of rice on boat which attracted a lot of commendation during Comptroller Inuwa’s reign as Controller in Charge of FOU ‘A’ as case in point.
Recalled that this happened when they were all recalled from their various duty posts in different command for a special operations led by Yusuf and Mohammed Hudu as 2i/c in FOU ‘A’. The special assignment traumatized the smuggling circle with evidence of unprecedented seizures recorded while the period lasted, and which eventually led to their recall back to the unit on a permanent posting. Also, Mohammed has been made to severally raise special teams on request to undertake some technical enforcement tasks within the service and have performed beyond expectation in the task which resulted into several seizures running into billions of naira.

TransQuest traced back his present anti-smuggling exploits when he became the mask man for MS Shuaibu, first during their reign at Border Drill Sector II, when he lived up to billing while leading the unit’s Operations recording several monumental seizures, including Four (4) Pump Action Riffles with over 2000 cartridges, aside massive rice and textile seizures recorded.
Similarly, he was operationally handy when Comptroller MS Shuaibu took over reign at Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, Ikeja about two years ago before his elevation to ACG status and eventual movement last year December 2025 to the high command in Abuja.
During this period, CSC Mohammed’s led team was a cynosure of all eyes as he stop at nothing to intercept and seized all manner of contraband items most of which the foremost anti-smuggling unit flaunts during press briefings.
Highpoint of some of his led seizures include the highly celebrated 15 Pump Action Riffles and over 5,000 cartridges; Vehicles laden with Foreign Currency of over 20,000 dollars, 10,000cfa, etc which were all handed over to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Seizure of 50kg foreign parboiled Rice of about 10 Trailer Load, and many others worth billions of naira in DPV.
This performance feat of his have continued event under the current leadership of Comptroller GI Aliyu, who as well personally confirm to this writer the performance streak of CSC Mohammed and his willingness to explore his enforcement expertise.

Presently, CSC Mohammed’s anti-smuggling exploits and capabilities has continued to earned him a deserved stay at the position of Officer in Charge of Operations, one of the most revered and highly dependable units of the FOU ‘A’, often termed the achievement mirror of the unit that bears several anti-smuggling fangs which can only be headed by highly competent, technical and experienced enforcement officers.
His efforts undoubtedly brought him to a deserving limelight at Abuja High Command recently when he was among the few that bagged the 2026 World Customs Organisation Merit Award for Outstanding Performance in his Anti-Smuggling field. The award was personally presented to him by the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, at the conference center venue of the 2026 WCO celebration in Abuja.
CSC Mohammed Hudu is presently serving at Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ in his third missionary journey to the unit as the Officer In Charge of Operation, where he has continued to dedicatedly serve his fatherland to the admiration of all.
A native of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, CSC Mohammed Hudu joined the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) 1st of January 1992 as Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) with his first posting to Katsina Area Command. He has transverse several commands and formations of the service to include Abuja Headquarters Drugs & Enforcement, Federal Operations Units, Commands such as Sokoto, Port-Harcourt Area I, Kano, as well as Apapa where he was Officer in charge of Operations (Container Security) under the Enforcement unit of the command, where he performed creditably to the admiration of his bosses.
